1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 harness connector at the LGM.

2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm between the low reference terminal 11 at the LGM and ground.

瀚慖f not the specified range, replace the LGM.

3. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts between 5-volt reference terminal 8 at the LGM and ground.

瀚慖f greater than the specified value, replace the LGM.

4. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts are between sensor 1 signal terminal 9 and low reference terminal 11 at the LGM.

瀚慖f not within the specified range, replace the LGM.

5. Test for 4.8-5.2 volts between sensor 2 signal terminal 10 and low reference terminal 11 at the LGM.

瀚慖f not within the specified range, replace the LGM.

6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the liftgate motor assembly.

Circuit/System Description

The liftgate object sensors are pressure sensitive touch tapes located on either side of the upper inside edge of the liftgate panel. The two tape

switches are placed in series between the liftgate object sensor signal circuit and the liftgate object low reference circuit. Each object sensor has a

resistor as well as a switch. The resistors enable the liftgate module to perform diagnostic functions on the circuits. When both touch tape sensors

are not pressed, the 5 volt reference voltage supplied by the liftgate module passes through the resistors and the liftgate module detects

approximately 3.3 volts. Pressing a touch tape will cause the voltage to drop to approximately to 2.5 volts indicating an obstruction is present. If the
