Recall 10V223000: ECM Software Update
VEHICLE MAKE/MODEL: MODEL YEAR(S):
Cadillac/SRX 2010
MANUFACTURER: General Motors Corp.
MFR'S REPORT DATE: May 24, 2010
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V223000
NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: N/A
COMPONENT: Engine and Engine Cooling
POTENTIAL NUMBER OF UNITS AFFECTED: 547
SUMMARY:
General Motors is recalling certain model year 2010 Cadillac SRX equipped with a 2.8L V6 engine. If low octane (regular) fuel is used in the
vehicle instead of the required high octane (premium) fuel as stated in the owner manual and on the fuel filler door, the combination of regular fuel
usage and aggressive driving maneuvers may induce pre-ignition. If pre-ignition occurs, you may hear a pinging or knocking sound from the
engine.
CONSEQUENCE:
If the vehicle continues to be driven after the onset of this noise, a connecting rod or piston may break, resulting in engine damage, and perhaps
engine failure, which would disable the vehicle increasing the risk of a crash.
REMEDY:
Dealers will reprogram the engine control module free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on or before June 11, 2010. Owners may
contact The Cadillac Customer Assistance Center at 1-866-982-2339 or at The Owner Center at www.gmownercenter.com.
NOTES:
Owners may also contact The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY

* Ignition ON.
* Ignition voltage is greater than 10 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The EBCM detects an internal malfunction.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* The EBCM disables the antilock brake system (ABS), traction control and the vehicle stability enhancement system for the duration of the
ignition cycle.
* A driver information center message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition for the DTC is no longer present.
* The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 40 consecutive drive cycles.

DTC C0245 00
- Wheel Speed Sensor Frequency Error
DTC C122E
- Wheel Speed Sensor Frequency Error
Circuit/System Description
As the wheel spins, the wheel speed sensor produces an AC signal. The electronic brake control module (EBCM) uses the frequency of the AC
signal to calculate the wheel speed.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* Ignition ON.
* Ignition voltage is greater than 10 volts.
* Vehicle must be moving at a speed less than 14.5 km/h (9 mph).
* No wheel speed sensor faults exist.
* Brake is not applied.
* Vehicle is not cornering.
* No wheel spinning is detected.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
Wheel speed differences between one wheel and the others is greater than 25 percent.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* The EBCM disables the antilock brake system (ABS), traction control and the vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) for the duration
of the ignition cycle.
* A DIC message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
* The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 40 consecutive drive cycles.
Diagnostic Aids
* Faulty wheel speed sensor will not set this DTC.
* A vehicle using a space saver spare will not set this code.

DTC C121D
- Improper Shutdown
Circuit/System Description
The electronic brake control module(EBCM) monitors the number of Key On and Key Off cycles. When it detects that a Key Off cycle was
incomplete or non-existent this fault will set. This means the fault reports a problem that occurred at the end of the previous ignition cycle. If this
occurs during an EBCM service operation, any calibrations or offsets learned during that service operation may not be properly stored in memory.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* Ignition ON.
* The ignition voltage is greater than 10 volts.
* The EBCM is initializing.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
A Key Off cycle was interrupted before completion, or power was removed from the module with the key in the ON position, vehicle moving and
brake is applied.
* The condition for the DTC is no longer present.
* The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 40 consecutive drive cycles.
Diagnostic Aids
This DTC can set if battery voltage drops below 8 volts with ignition ON.

The electronic brake control module (EBCM) supplies a shared 5 volt reference to the brake master cylinder piston position sensor, steering angle
sensor and brake master cylinder piston position sensor.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* Ignition ON.
* The ignition voltage is greater than 10 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The EBCM detects the voltage on the 5 V reference circuit to the brake master cylinder piston position sensor, steering angle sensor and brake
master cylinder piston position sensor is less than 4.8 V or greater than 5.2 V.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets

Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the EBCM.
2. Test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuits listed below and ground.
* Terminal 13
* Terminal 38
瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuits listed below and ground.
* Terminal 1
* Terminal 25
瀚慖f the test lamp does not illuminate, test the appropriate circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal
and the B+ circuit fuse is open, replace the brake pressure modulator valve assembly.
4. If all circuits test normal, replace the EBCM and verify DTC does not reset. If the DTC resets, replace the brake pressure modulator valve
assembly.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (See: Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
